One day we took a short trip over to Fitzroy Island. It is about 45 minutes by boat from Cairns. Fitzroy Island has a couple of very beautiful beaches where you can swim and snorkel, and it is also possible to climb to the top of the mountain to get some good views of the ocean down below. Unfortunately, when we snorkelled from the beach, it became quite stormy with lots of wind, rain, and waves. Because of that the water was not so clear, but still we had a good time. We would like to go back again sometime when the weather is better and the water is more calm.
